Who May Participate:
The Festival is open to students ages 13 and up as well as adults. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO JOIN THEIR STUDENTS IN SINGING! It is primarily for homeschool students; however, Christian school students who do not have an opportunity to sing in a larger choir may participate with permission. Families and sponsors must register if they plan to eat the evening meal, whether or not they sing. (Students 12 years of age who desire to participate in the vocal festival must contact us prior to registering to request special permission to participate.)
The Festival is a full day of vocal instruction and music training on songs that you have learned and practiced in advance at home. An evening concert and reception for the community completes the day’s activities. Click here for more information on the festival day.
This year’s festival is Friday, March 17, 2017 The concert will begin at 7:00 pm.
We have 4 evening rehearsals before the festival day. You must attend all of them. If you live more than 100 miles from Salina, you are only required to attend two rehearsals. But it is best to attend them all to maximize your benefit from the festival. The director will teach different things at each rehearsal.
We accomplish a lot in each two hour rehearsal. Everyone is expected to start learning their music at home before coming to the rehearsals. This lets the director focus on polishing the songs and teaching choral technique instead of spending time teaching us the notes.
The four rehearsals this year will be:
- Monday, February 20, 2017 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
- Monday, February 27, 2017 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
- Monday, March 6, 2017 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
- Monday, March 13, 2017 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)

We desire that all we do bring glory to Jesus Christ. So, please keep in mind the guidelines given in 1 Timothy 2:9 that ladies – and gentlemen – should dress with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly. It’s also more professional to not show skin on the stage. Therefore we have the following dress code:
Men- Slacks or nice jeans and collared shirts.
Ladies- Casual dress – skirts, dresses or nice slacks.
Men- Nice slacks, collared shirts and ties.
Ladies- Nice dresses, skirts, or dress slacks.
Ladies, you will be sitting on a raised platform. Your hemline must be below the knees when sitting. Tops must have sleeves. Please do not wear clothing that is tight-fitting, low-necked, high-slitted, or open-backed. Leggings with short skirts are not appropriate.
(Please: No perfume! Some are allergic!)
Those who do not adhere to the dress code will not be able to participate in the festival.
