About the Directors
Mr. Eddie B. Creer, Jr.
Mr. Eddie B. Creer, Jr. is a veteran choral director, adjudicator and teacher. He currently serves as the Director of Vocal Music at Salina High School South since 1985. He received his Bachelors in Music Education from Oklahoma State University in 1981 and his Masters in Music Education from Wichita State University in 1994. Mr. Creer has led several Choral Festivals and is greatly admired and respected by his students and fellow teachers.
Mr. Creer directed the 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2016 festivals. He will be directing the 2017 festival.
Mr. Glenn Litke
Glenn Litke, of rural Hillsboro, Kansas, earned music degrees at Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS and the University of Nebraska/Lincoln. Besides teaching private voice and related courses, he has served as conductor at the Tabor College Chorale and Concert Choir; conductor of the Liberty University Concert Choir, Lynchburg, VA; director of vocal ensembles at Grace College of the Bible, Omaha, NE; conductor of the Berean Academy High School Choir, Elbing, KS; and has had a continuous music involvement in local churches. He has been a choral clinician and adjudicator at numerous festivals in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Virginia.Mr. Litke has performed with the Bethany College Oratorio Society, Lindsborg, KS; Nebraska Choral Arts Society; Nebraska Opera Ensemble; Voices of Omaha; Lynchburg Virginia Fine Arts Society; Reno County Choral Society; Wichita Chamber Singers; and Wichita Choral Society as well as in many churches and recital halls. Highlighting his solo oratorio repertoire are Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion and B Minor Mass; Brahms’ German Requiem; Haydn’s Creation; Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Handel’s Messiah.
After 20 years of teaching, Mr. Litke chose to go back to managing the family farm he was raised on. He continues his participation in church music ministry, vocal performance, choral clinics and adjudicating. His wife, Sheila, is Professor of Piano & Piano Pedagogy at Tabor College, Hillsboro, Kansas.
Mr. Litke directed the festivals from 1999 through 2010, and 2014.
Mr. Jerry K. Friesen
Jerry K. Friesen is a retired Music Educator, having taught 32 years in the Newton Public Schools. Jerry and his wife Carol have four grown daughters and seven grandchildren. He brings years of experience in teaching vocal and choral music, directing church choirs and adjudicating and directing middle and high school festivals. He received his Bachelor degree from Bethel College in 1969 and his Masters in Music Education in 1977 from Wichita State University. Mr. Friesen directed the 2013 festival.
